Crash (also called 'clash') cymbals are traditionally used in pairs and each one has a strap set in the bell of the cymbal from which it is held. There are many ways to play these cymbals and here are some ideas for you:
You can get a sound simply by rubbing their edges together in a sort of sliding movement called a 'sizzle'. You can strike them against each other too and this is called a 'crash'. Also, you can make a 'tap-clash' simply by tapping the edge of one of the crash cymbals on the other. You can also try scraping the edges together which is officially caled a 'scrape' . How about a 'hi-hat chick'? You get this sound by shutting the cymbals together. There are actually so many sounds that can be made with this set of crash cymbals. You can let them vibrate or you can stop the sound by using your body too. Generally though the ones with straps are quite versatile in the types of sounds that can be achieved, for example they can be practically held and thus the sound dampened to suit many types of music. On this site see also the crash cymbals with wooden handles and also our finger cymbals.
These quality stainless steel crash cymbal sets with straps come in an attractively presented blister pack. Each 5" dia.
