The sides can be detatched leaving the picture of the jungle cat's head making it perfect for little toddlers to play sitting on the floor and as they grow older, the sides with the cat's body can then be attached raising the toy piano from the floor so the bench can then be used, making it a comfortable height for an older child.
You can tell it's a real Schoenhut toy piano because it has TWO octaves (15 white notes and 10 black notes) enabling a full range of songs to be played - any fewer keys will restrict dramatically the number of songs that can be played. The tunes are produced by tiny little hammers beating on steel rods which have all been precision ground as opposed to the taut wires used in full-sized pianos.
