This Bontempi classic digital drum set offers great value for money and it is made by a world leader of electronic musical instruments. On this new classic model, there are 24 different percussion sounds that can be selected and what's more, they are programmable in that you can change the classic digital drum pad's to sound like any one of those 24 drum sounds. When a drum pad is played via one of the programmed tunes or struck with a drumstick, it lights up, so this digital drum set could even be used as a sort of trainer - no worries, the tempo can be changed to make it easier to follow. There is also a button named 'Lesson' which when pressed, the drum pad sounds stop playing from the programmed tunes but still flash as if they are being played and you also still hear the background music. The idea is to replace the beats yourself by following the flashing lights - great for improving reaction time, plus when testing we found it really good fun. There are all sorts of very successful games on the market that use just this type of action in their games!

When you turn it on, in a nice voice it sort of encourages you to start beating away and if you leave it on for over 2 minutes without using the digital drums there's this nice little sound that reminds you to switch it off.
The volume can be adjusted from a master button or you can adjust the sound for each song.
There is a headphone jack which is useful if peace and quiet is required - sorry, but it had to be mentioned - it's a definate plus for those moments we parents and carers sometimes need. As well as two drumsticks, it comes with an adaptor, so no batteries are really required, but if you are going away you can use batteries too.
