This classical music for children book and CD is absolutely ideal for anyone who wants to magically open children's minds to classical music. A beautifully illustrated colourful adventure story book, with plenty images to capture children's imagination comes with a CD containing the well known Wasps Overture, by Ralph Vaughan Williams, a British composer. Simply turn on the music and then at the same time read the captivating children's story showing the beautifully illustrated pictures along the way. In the book there are time indications that match the counter on the CD player so you can pace your reading to match all the excitement in the classical music. It's an ideal music resource for non-music-specialists. You'll find that soon you can play the music on its own and the children will imagine what is going on, remembering the story and before you know it - hey guess what..... they're listening to real classical music without the book! So really, the book is there to capture children's attention and used as a vehicle to move children towards an interest in classical music.

This children's classical music book and CD can also be used as an original and exciting literacy hour resource as it can most certainly be inspiring for children. The story can also be read without the music, looking at the pictures and creating new stories about the same characters. It can also be used as a brainstorming excercise to inspire poetry or creative writing. As an art resource, it could be the base of a project for half a term or even a full term's duration - there are lots of ideas you will find for this in the book. It's also useful as a calming story-time exercise.

The author, Ann Bryant trained at the Royal College of Music and acquired a postgraduate course in Dalcroze Eurhythmics. As well as teaching music at foundation level and Key Stages 1 and 2, Anne has taught music, movement and drama to children both here in the UK and in Europe winning literary awards as a children's author and composer of music.

Recommended children's age group 5-8 years.
