The Damaru is a traditional Indian prayer drum.
The wooden drum is very easy to play by simply holding the middle of the drum and twisting your wrist so that the beads on the end of the strings hit the drum heads. The faster you move your hand, the higher in pitch it goes. According to religious cosmology, the sound of the drum represents the primeval rhythm from which the universe emerges, dissolves, and then re-emerges.
The drum is hand-made and all of our ethnic instruments are fairly traded.
This versatile and fun instrument will make a great addition to any home or school.
