The Monkey Drum is a Japanese pellet drum, also known as a 'den-den daiko'. It is very popular with Japanes children due to it being very easy to play - just twist the handle rapidly to make the beads flick round and hit the drum heads. It is used in religious festivals as well as a noisemaker and toy for children. it was most famously used in the film 'The Karate Kid' Part II'. The drum has a wooden handle and natural skin drum heads.
The drum is hand-made and all of our ethnic instruments are fairly traded.
This versatile and fun instrument will make a great addition to any home or school.
