This book was especially written for parents and baby music groups and classes produced by an award-winning instructor and early childhood music pioneer. These lesson plans are also an ideal resource for nurseries. This book offers over 30 tried and tested easy and fun music games for babies and their parents and carers including fun movement activities to promote babies' music skills. Even if you don't consider yourself to be too musically minded, this CD and book is for anyone interested in providing a sensational music experience for babies on their own or in a baby music group. The activities include singing all sorts of songs such as lullabies, nursery rhymes and includes bouncing games, action songs, lap songs, gentle exercise songs and games, rocking and swaying songs, chair games, floor games, massage rhymes, touching games and fun group activities for parents. All the songs are designed so everyone can reach the notes. Rhythm and movement songs and activies are all so important for babies - they help to get a sense of what rhythm is, which if you think about it is a very essential element to all types music making.

Please note that if you are looking for completely new and different material, this book and CD will also be an ideal resource, as they were produced in the USA. If the accents are not what you are looking for, use the CD as a guide to the tunes.

Suggested instruments for this book: for adults: finger cymbals - Babies & adults: maracas, . Give your baby the best! Beautiful instruments that are in tune and have a good tone quality are the first instruments that babies should hear.

A Note about Language

When you play lap games, remember to always face your baby. This way your baby can see how you talk and sing. If you are in a baby music group, babies love to look at other babies so if you form a circle facing inwards, babies can see each other and what all their frends are doing. If babies have the opportunity of repeating the songs their language development is usually much faster and easier for them, especially when words are used in beat, rhythms and songs. Don't forget to use expressions when speaking or singing - it all adds to the fun! You can also introduce high notes and low notes including fast and slow speeds when you sing to your baby. These are all things that will help make our babies into natural little musicians and are all covered in this book.
